The Alvin Church of Christ Statement of Core Beliefs summarizes our beliefs as a church. You will find that we are a group of believers who kneel at the cross of the Lord Jesus Christ, use the Bible as our guide for living everyday life, and strive to live the life worthy of our calling. Our purpose of gathering as a church is to lift one another up as we serve together. As a body, we are not judgmental, condemning, or condescending of anyone and we welcome everyone to our assembly.

The Following is a Summary of What We Believe. We're an independent, non-denomination church with no written doctrine or creed except for the Bible itself. However, we present this summary of beliefs so that you get to know our church and what we represent.
- There is one God, eternally existing in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Romans 8
- Out of love for His children, God sent His Son Jesus Christ to die for our sins. Jesus rose from the dead to bring life and salvation to all who would believe. 1 Corinthians 15:1-8
- The Bible is the inspired Word of God and is the final authority in life and all beliefs of the Church. 2 Timothy 3:26-17
- We have sinned (literal meaning: "miss the mark") and fallen short of the expectation of God. Romans 3:23
- Salvation is the free gift of God. Through the death of Christ on the cross, which was the only sufficient payment for the sin of man. Our sins have been forgiven and this salvation is available for any who will put their trust in Christ as their Savior and obey his commands. Romans 6:23; John 3:16-18, 36
- Those trusting in Jesus should repent (Greek word meaning "about face") of their sin, openly confess their faith in Christ to others, and be baptized into his death. Acts 2:38; Romans 10:9-10
The Church is the body of Christ on earth, empowered by the Holy Spirit to continue reaching the lost and making disciples of the saved. Ephesians 4:1-16 |
